The Diploma in Electronics, Computer & Communications Engineering (DECC) is designed to groom graduates for a wide range of future careers optionscovering many sectors like the media and entertainment, clean& green energy, semiconductors, telecommunications, biomedical, defence, aerospace, info-communications, and much more.
Our proven curriculum has enabled our students to achieve excellence, winning numerous awards and accolades in competitions at both the local and international levels. Students will enjoy a unique advantage with our Centre of Innovation for Electronics (the only establishment in a local polytechnic in partnership with SPRING Singapore). NYP has strong industrial collaboration with top notch companies like Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies which had set up on-campus research and development centre that enables students to learn andacquire first-hand industrialpractises and application of the latest technology. On top of that, students will also gain international exposure and valuable experience through our overseas industrial attachment, overseas project centre attachment and overseas immersion programmes.

Course Educational Objectives

Diploma in Electronics, Computer and Communications Engineering graduates will be able to do the following within the first few years of their graduation:
  • be effective in the design, development and implementation of solutions for electronics and infocomm products and systems
  • be employed in the electronics or related field, or accepted into related/relevant undergraduate and/or professional training programs
  • effectively lead, collaborate and communicate in multi-disciplinary teams
  • contribute to innovation and enterprising endeavours
  • conduct themselves professionally, ethically and engage in lifelong learning
Duration: 3 academic years on a full-time basis.

Student Learning Outcomes

The desired student learning outcomes of the Diploma in Electronics, Computer and Communications are to educate and train students who, by the time of graduation, will be able to:
  • apply the knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of the electronics and infocomm disciplines;
  • apply knowledge of the circuit analysis and design, analog and digital electronics, computer programming, microcomputers, communication system and industrial electronics to design, analyse, develop, test and deploy electronics and infocomm product/system and solutions;
  • apply the knowledge of mathematics, engineering and technology to solve electronics and infocomm problems;
  • function effectively in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • communicate effectively through written, oral and visual means;
  • recognise the need for and engage in lifelong learning;
  • recognise the need for and commit to professional and ethical responsibilities;
  • recognise the need for and engage in innovative and enterprising activities.

Course Structure

In the first two years, students will gain broad-based knowledge in electronics, computer and communications engineering. They will also develop skills in business, technopreneurship, and entrepreneurship, emerging areas such as micro and nanotechnology, clean energy, and even a foreign language.
In the final year, other than the solid engineering foundation, students can also choose from one of the following range of elective programmes, each designed to equip student with in-depth expertise to excel in the field of their choice.
